Leader of the Opposition, Lia Finocchiaro, says Michael Gunner can no longer hold the office of Chief Minister and must resign his position immediately.

“The Chief Minister’s handling of the Labor cocaine sex scandal proves his position has become untenable. He has been given every opportunity to show real leadership and address these serious allegations.

“Instead, he has deliberately covered up allegations of a cocaine sex scandal involving members of his staff and a sitting MLA.

“Labor Ministers have told media the MLA’s position is untenable. The Labor Party president has publicly demanded answers from the Chief Minister.

“The allegations have been made public, the media have substantiated these allegations, and police are reportedly investigating. The only person turning a blind eye is the Chief Minister.

“This is disgraceful behaviour from a Chief Minister and this goes to the integrity of the entire Parliament.

“This was a major test of the Chief Minister’s leadership. He has failed and is no longer fit to hold office. This Chief Minister’s legacy is now crime, cocaine and cover ups,” said Ms Finocchiaro.
