It is with deep sadness that I acknowledge the Member for Daly, Ian Sloan’s, intention to
resign at the next parliamentary sittings due to health reasons.

My CLP parliamentary colleagues and I fully support his decision and our thoughts are very
much with Ian and his family at this challenging time.

Ian has made this decision with the greatest of integrity, acknowledging he can’t represent
his vast and diverse electorate while looking after his health and, in the best interests of both,
he’s stepping down in the most dignified way.

As the Member for Daly, Ian has been an exceptional and humble local member.

The relationship and rapport he’s built with his community is extraordinary: it’s genuine,
passionate and truly represents the best interests of his constituents.

I please ask that Ian’s request for privacy for himself and his family is respected.

Information about the Country Liberal Party preselection process is a matter for the Party and
details of a by-election rest with the Chief Minister.

Ultimately, the people of Daly must be represented in Parliament as soon as possible and we
have asked the Gunner Government to give consideration for a by-election to be held at the
earliest available opportunity.
