As part of Natasha Fyles’ press conference this morning, Labor has shown their continued focus on strengthening the buildings before taking action to stop the crime from happening.
Mrs Finocchiaro said, “No Territorian is feeling safer in their workplace knowing that Natasha Fyles has announced an audit of retail outlets on how to reduce crime through environmental design.”
“Natasha Fyles is always blaming the business who got broken into for not being secure enough.
Instead she should be taking ownership for her Government not being good enough,” she said
“This is straight from the Fyles files of fake solutions, just like in Alice where they wanted to put polycarbonate in the windows to strengthen the windows not the law.
“Extraordinarily, she then went further by announcing self-defence training for workers. Workers don’t want to be attacked in the first place.”
In another blow to an industry in mourning, she announced that the Territory Government would not cover the costs of funding of security and crowd control but merely ‘assist’.
“Labor can’t tell you that you’ll be safe at work. All they can do is give you a bill to strengthen your building and hope for the best.”
