Leader of the Opposition – Lia Finocchiaro

In a not so unexpected turn of events, questions surrounding the transparency of Chief Minister Natasha Fyles have escalated, following fresh allegations that she may have undisclosed shareholdings, this time with South32, the company that runs the Gemco manganese mine on Groote Eylandt.

Last month, the Chief Minister said that she had “declared everything,” particularly emphasising her divestment of Woodside shares and stating, “I have always declared share holdings while a member of parliament, in accordance with the legislation.”

Opposition Leader Lia Finocchiaro said, “The Chief Minister must come out immediately and front questions.”

“If these reports of more secret shares are true, she has knowingly mislead Territorians again and must go,” Mrs Finocchiaro said.

The Labor Cabinet during the Woodside shares scandal failed to follow the Cabinet Handbook and take action on the conflict of interest.

Will they defy their responsibilities to Territorians and once again hide away from yet another serious integrity breach?

If reports are confirmed Mrs Finocchiaro said, “Chief Minister Fyles actions represent a profound betrayal of public trust.”

The CLP plans to establish a lobbyist register if elected, aiming to enhance integrity by tracking government-minister lobbyist interactions.

The CLP’s commitment to a lobbyist register contrasts starkly with the government’s failures, aiming to restore confidence in government interactions and decision-making processes.
